Job Title: Financial Loan Officer - Commercial Real Estate

Position Overview

The Financial Loan Officer plays a critical role in structuring, analyzing, and managing commercial real estate loans. This position is ideal for candidates with a background in banking, lending, or credit analysis who are eager to apply their financial expertise in a dynamic real estate environment. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, in-depth underwriting and credit knowledge, and the ability to build and maintain strong institutional relationships.


Key Responsibilities

Loan Origination & Structuring

  • Source, structure, and process commercial real estate loans, including acquisitions, refinancings, and recapitalizations.
  • Collaborate with lenders to negotiate favorable loan terms while ensuring compliance with lending policies.
  • Prepare comprehensive financing packages and supporting documentation for loan submissions.

Credit & Risk Analysis

  • Evaluate borrower creditworthiness through analysis of financial statements, rent rolls, DSCR, LTV, and related metrics.
  • Conduct underwriting, risk assessments, and due diligence to support loan approval decisions.
  • Monitor ongoing loan performance and identify potential risks, covenant breaches, or exposure issues.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, legal, and institutional lending requirements.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support underwriting and investment decisions.
  • Prepare credit memos, loan summaries, and periodic performance reports.
  • Track and analyze portfolio metrics including DSCR, NOI, LTV, IRR, and cash flow.
  • Partner with property management and accounting teams to validate assumptions and financial data.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for lenders throughout underwriting, closing, and post-closing reporting.
  • Represent the company in lender meetings, investor presentations, and industry events.

Process & Compliance Oversight

  • Utilize Yardi and other financial systems to manage loan data, payments, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all loan-related documentation.
  • Recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency in loan administration and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or professional certifications preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial lending, loan origination, or real estate credit analysis.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate lending practices, underwriting standards, and credit policies.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Yardi and/or Argus strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and close complex financing transactions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple transactions concurrently.
